From a young age I have always loved sport, then in highschool I discovered Taekwondo and was hooked straight away. When I first started I really struggled due to my poor vision and my fitness. However, this didn’t stop me. My coach and I focused on reactions and movement due to my poor sight when I take my glasses off, we spent hours trying to improve my reaction times and defense. When I first started Taekwondo I weighed 83KG, this really held me back, to overcome this i trained as much as I could mainly focusing on skipping, within a year reduced my weight to 67KG. I never let these hurdles hold me back and I continued to be determined and pushed myself as hard as I could. When I first started competing I lost around 6 fights in a row, these loses pushed me to carry on and train even harder than I was. I then started to succeed and gained many gold medals. I am now a Blue tag and hope to continue to eventually become a black belt. I was awarded Student of the Year 2016 and was third in Fighter of the year. I would love to compete in Nationals and have a chance to become National champion in my weight category. To be able to do this i require help and funding. Thank you for reading 🙂
